COMEA has been operating and providing services to the homeless of Cheyenne, Laramie County, and the surrounding region since 1983. Our residents come from within our community, county, state and all across the nation.
Emergency Shelter: clean bed, hot meals, shower and hygiene items, case-management, employment counseling and referrals to other services.

Business Hours: Monday-Friday 8 am - 4 pm

Emergency Shelter Check-in: 4 pm Every Day

Dinner: 6:00 pm Every Day

Availability: night by night on a first come basis.

Journey Program: More intensive case management and an extended stay.

Employment Counseling and classes are mandatory for all Journey Program participants.

Pay-to-Stay Program: Each of these residents pays rent. This helps them learn to budget and meet monthly expenses. Case management continues to be an important component to this programs success.

Transitional Living Program (TLP): Participants live in efficiency apartments. These single men and women are accepted to the program through an application process and must show a strong commitment to regaining and maintaining independent living. They pay rent, save, eliminate old debt, identify and address barriers to independence, cook, clean and do laundry. TLP residents continue with case management but it is less intense. They practice their independence in a safe and supportive environment.

Services to non-residents of COMEA: COMEA provides a number of services to individuals and families who do not reside at the shelter. Gas vouchers are available to stranded travelers looking to leave Cheyenne. Bus vouchers are provided on a case-by-case basis for individuals trying to return or relocate to another city and/or state. The amount available is dependent on what is available in the travel account which is funded by private donations.
